Cookies, Local Storage and Analytics Notice

How the site uses essential browser technologies and the conditions for any future analytics.

Effective 6 September 2026Australian servicePlain-language policy
Important: These policies preserve rights that cannot legally be excluded. They do not make MMIO a clinical or emergency service.

The technologies used

MMIO uses first-party cookies and browser storage for functions such as login, security, trusted-device access, preferences, local drafts, saved plans, progress and game state. The exact technology varies by product and browser.

Essential cookies

Essential cookies may be used to:

  • maintain a signed-in session;
  • protect forms and prevent cross-site request forgery;
  • remember a trusted browser using a random token;
  • support checkout, fraud prevention and payment security;
  • balance traffic, protect the site and maintain service availability.

Blocking essential cookies can prevent login, membership access, payment or security controls from working.

Browser-local private work

Tools Studio, Activities Centre, The Steady Year, Core Tools and related products may store private work in local storage or IndexedDB. This is not an advertising cookie. It is used so the current browser can restore the member’s work without silently transmitting the text to MMIO.

Local data may be lost when browser storage is cleared or the device/profile is unavailable. Use export controls for anything you need to preserve.

Analytics and tracking

MMIO’s default position is to avoid non-essential tracking that is not needed to operate or improve the service. If non-essential analytics, advertising pixels, session replay, cross-site identifiers or similar technologies are introduced, MMIO must first:

  • update this notice and the supplier register;
  • assess privacy, security and health-information risk;
  • configure data minimisation and retention;
  • obtain valid consent where required;
  • provide a working reject and withdrawal choice;
  • prevent private tool writing and payment fields from being captured.

A banner that merely says “by continuing you agree” is not treated as a substitute for consent where an affirmative choice is legally required.

Payment-provider technology

Stripe may use cookies or similar technology for checkout, authentication, fraud prevention and payment security. These are governed by Stripe’s current notices in addition to MMIO’s responsibilities as the seller.

Your controls

You can use browser controls to delete cookies and local data, but doing so can sign you out, remove trusted-device status and erase private work. Product-specific clear and export controls are preferable when you want to remove one category without affecting everything.
